Quick Notes are stored in a separate folder in the Notes app.

Where can you find the fn key? The lower-left corner of most Mac keyboards. This hot key is “fn-Q” (press the fn (Function) key and Q). The final method of creating a new Quick Note is to use a hot key. There’s no way to use the pop-up menu to indicate which note you want to add selected text to. Let’s say you’re doing research on two topics and have created a Quick Note for each. One thing I already wish Apple would add to this feature is a way to Add To a choice of Quick Notes. This can be very useful when doing research, as a single note can contain text and links from a number of web pages. If you now decide to select other text from a web page, that “New Quick Note” menu item that appears when you right -click selected text now turns to “Add to Quick Note”. The selected text and a link to the web page appear in the note That box is actually a Quick Note button. Monterey is set up with the lower right corner of the screen being “hot.” In other words, when you move your cursor to that hot corner, a white box appears. There are three methods of creating a Quick Note in macOS Monterey: 1 – With a Click It doesn’t, at least not in this beta version. After creating a note from a web page in Safari, it should appear in the corner of the Mac screen when I return to that page. Perhaps Apple can fix the feature by the Monterey release date, but it is one feature that could actually disappear from the shipping product. It doesn’t always work as advertised and occasionally crashes.

Of all of the macOS Monterey features covered in this series so far, Quick Note seems the most like a beta feature. Once created, Quick Notes reside in the Notes app in their own folder.
In this series of articles, we’ll introduce readers to new and updated Monterey features. If you want to remove the highlights, just delete the Safari link from the Quick Note.We expect macOS 12 Monterey to arrive in September or October of 2021. Simply select the text you want to highlight on a webpage, then right-click (Ctrl-click) the text and select New Quick Note or Add to Quick Note.Ī link will appear in the Quick Note and the text in Safari will remain highlighted, even if you revisit the webpage at a later time. You can keep track of content from websites by highlighting text in Safari and adding it to a Quick Note.

How to Add Select Webpage Content to a Quick Note When you return to the linked content on the website, a thumbnail preview of the Quick Note will appear in the corner of the screen to remind you of what you noted earlier. In the Safari app, visit the website that you want to link to, then click the Share button (the square with an arrow pointing out) and choose New Quick Note or Add to Quick Note. If you're a Safari user, you can easily add webpage links to Quick Notes for later reference. If you want to always create a new Quick Note instead of opening the previous one, open the Notes app on your Mac, choose Notes -> Preferences, then uncheck Resume last Quick Note. You can also use hot corners on your Mac to create a Quick Note: Move the pointer to the hot corner set for Quick Notes (by default, the lower-right corner of the screen), then click the note that appears.Īfter you start a Quick Note, you can open it again by repeating one of the above actions.
